ABOUT DRACUT YOUTH LACROSSE

Founded in 2002 by several hard working Dracut parents, DYL

has grown from a program of approximately 15 players at the 5th thru 8th grade
levels to its present participation of over 70 players from 2nd to 8th grade.

DYL focus is grounded with the Patriot Youth Lacrosse League,
the league within which all of DYL games are played. Their mission, as well as
ours, is this simple. We seek to create a weekly game schedule for with other
PYLL towns to compete, to promote the growth of the game of lacrosse
throughout Eastern Massachusetts, to cultivate and assist additional towns to
start youth lacrosse programs and to train coaches and officials.

We strive to play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the
sport and providing a fun experience for all involved. Our goal is to provide
an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure filled, win-at-all-cost
mania that is too present in today's youth sports.

NOTE: the DYLL board acknowledges some Dracut families are interested
in providing a more competitive environment for their children.  We have co-
established with local communities a league called "Patriot Premier
Lacrosse
" which players can try out for and play more competitive games
on Saturdays. Players interested in this should contact John King.

Dracut also communicates opportunities with other select/elite teams such
as NESLL, and Home Grown Lacrosse which have traditionally also provided
elite level competitive play for Dracut players.   Both leagues involve additional
travel and fee expense.

Finally, during the winter, Dracut typically enters several teams in "Box Lacrosse'
- indoor lacrosse.  These leagues are also competitive and are found in Acton
and Tyngsboro and North Andover.

We will continue to provide information on other leagues and opportunities as they arise.
